4-Month Old Puppy Nearly Dies from a Drug Overdose

[TERRIBLE]

In Carrolton, Texas, police found a 4-month old Chihuahua-mix puppy looking sick in the back of a truck. The truck was parked at a Home Depot, and while his owners were gone the puppy ingested drugs that were left in the vehicle. The police took the puppy, named Lucky, to the vet and as they suspected, Lucky was suffering from a heroin overdose.

The police not only found drugs in the vehicle, but the dog owners were also allegedly switching price tags in the store.  Thomas Romero and Nina Crawford have been charged with possession of heroin/controlled substance, fraudulent destruction and removal or concealment of writing. They may also be charged with animal abuse.

If Lucky had been found any later, his chances of surviving would be slim. According to Dr. Stacie Fowler from the North Texas Emergency Vet Clinic, the 4-month old puppy was nearly comatose when he got to the clinic. But thanks to police staff, Lucky is now recovered from the drug overdose and is healthy once again. He’ll soon be put up for adoption with the Carrolton Animal Services.
