Just before Christmas, all the dogs in the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region found permanent homes. This non-profit shelter in Colorado Springs waived adoption fees for cats and dogs over five years old, all thanks to some of their donors. Because of their generous donations this holiday season, the shelter was able to offer a #HomefortheHolidays promotion. As a result, they were able to adopt out all of their available dogs for two days in a row this past December.
The Human Society community relations manager, Gretchen Pressley, told ABC News that, “Seeing so many pets find wonderful new homes is what makes it all worthwhile for us.” The shelter has come close to adopting out all of their dogs, but this past December they were fortunate enough to finally see it happen.
Although the Humane Society was able to clear out their kennels this holiday season, they still receive cats and dogs on a regular basis. It’s never too late to adopt a furry friend, so be sure to visit your local animal shelter and give a home to a pet in need.
