Charles Le Brun, a French painter, art theorist, and philosopher, created images to depict what humans would look like if they evolved from different animals. Le Brun is most famous for being the first painter to King Louis the XIV in 1664, but he had a keen interest in physiognomy, which is the study of the relationship between facial features and character.
