Avalanche Rescue Dog in Lake Tahoe Slides Down the Ski Hill After a Hard Days Work
[ADORABLE]
The furry creature you see in the video sliding down the ski hill is Truckee, an avalanche rescue dog for the South Lake Tahoe region. This 5-year old black Labrador Retriever had a hard long day of search and rescue and decided to hit the slopes of Heavenly ski resort. Truckee’s handler, Chris Child, filmed the pup sliding about 200 feet down the mountain rolling around in the snow and wagging his tail happily in the air. I guess dogs also need to let off a bit of steam after an exhausting day at work.
In 2017, South Lake Tahoe has already received 37 feet of falling snow, making search and rescue initiatives essential in the area. Luckily, the Heavenly ski resort has Truckee and a team of avalanche dogs to respond to emergencies. Their dog crew is loyal, energetic and well-trained to find and rescue victims lost in the mounds of snow.
