North Pole Experiences Warmest Christmas Ever

[CRAZY]

North Pole Experiences Warmest Christmas Ever
We hope Santa has a thinner version of that red suit, and maybe a vest to replace the heavy jacket and flip flops instead of big boots, because the North Pole just had its warmest Christmas ever. On December 25th, the elves and reindeers were sweating, as the once chilly North Pole dipped down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius).

That is an alarming fifty degrees warmer than the North Pole should be. 2015 previously held the record for warmest winter ever at the North Pole, but was beat out by 2016. Studies by the World Weather Attribution Network reveal that a warm winter like the one experienced in 2015 should only occur at the North Pole every fifty years. But we’ve experienced two warm winters back to back.

Recent examples of climate change around the world
Despite the ridiculous notion flying around that climate change is a hoax perpetrated by the Chinese to steal American business, the world has experienced an alarming number of incidents proving that climate is rapidly changing. These events are no longer consistent with normal weather patterns. A new term, global climate disruption, has been coined to more accurately describe the climate change we’re seeing around the world. Global warming, a more dated term, is being phased out as many climate change deniers cling to the “warming” part of that phrase. However, educated persons know that when the overall temperature of the earth rises, climate systems react differently, causing climate disruptions worldwide with both extreme hot and cold temperatures.

In one example of both extreme hot and cold temperatures, this November the Arctic was almost 40 degrees warmer than usual. At the same time, Siberia endured a mass of polar air resulting in record low temperatures and reports of people freezing to death. Two years ago, North America suffered through the polar vortex which, as a result, brought upon California’s recent drought.

What the politicians are saying
Prominent climate change denier, US Senator John Inhofe, thought he was proving his point by bringing a snowball to the Senate floor in March of 2015. Besides earning him the nickname Senator Snowball, all this stunt did was prove that the climate is, in fact, changing. Because while it was snowing in March in Washington, DC, a large 618 square mile ice shelf in Antarctica was melting into the sea.

Unfortunately, Senator Snowball is not the only climate change denier in Washington. He is supported by President-elect Donald Trump who has said he believes everything from “climate change is a hoax” to “no one knows if climate change is real.” Instead of listening to the evidence on climate change, Trump is pretending it doesn’t exist. He plans to shut down NASA programs focused on climate research. His appointments to the House Committee on Science, Space Policy Advisor, and Environmental Protection Agency are all climate deniers and lawyers by profession, as opposed to scientists who may have the knowledge needed for the jobs. Instead of focusing on cleaner energy and conservation like most other governments around the world, Trump and his administration are doing the exact opposite.

What the scientists are saying
As is now the trend, scientists and their evidence are completely at odds with Trump, his administration and their plans, or lack thereof, on climate change. Of 928 peer-reviewed articles on climate change published in scientific journals over five years, all 928 provided evidence for the existence of human-caused climate change. The scientific community, the group researching and analyzing climate change, are in consensus that not only is it happening, but that it is human-caused.

Despite this overwhelming evidence, many climate change deniers still point to books, posters, and websites that support their beliefs. However, a study in 2008 found some of these sources of information to be less credible than they look. In 2008, a study on 141 books denying climate change found that 130 of them were produced by Conservative Think Tanks. These Conservative Think Tanks are funded by fossil fuel industry organizations who benefit from denying climate change and getting as many people on their side as possible. Also in 2015, Heartland Institute released a poster citing 58 experts who don’t believe global warming is a crisis. But upon further investigation, only 3 of the 58 “experts” have credentials in climatology or atmospheric science.
