The City of Austin, Texas is the state capital of Texas and is one of the biggest cities within the state and the country. Austin is also known as the “live music capital of the world” and is a hot spot for country, rock, and jazz music. The city dates back to December 27, 1839. It is named after Sam Austin, who was considered the “Father of Texas” in the 1830’s and was a prominent figure in the westward expansion of the American Southwest region. The city of Austin is located in the central part of the state, almost between Waco and San Antonio. Austin, Texas is home to over 885,400 people and is continuously growing. The city is home to the University of Texas at Austin, and is a lively college town filled with a large population of young adults. The current mayor of the city is Steve Adler, who serves at the 52nd mayor of the grand city. As for the climate, the city is known for its fair weather year round, with its location in the southern edge of the country. Austin, Texas is also a prime spot for tourism with the many attractions around the city including restaurants, bars, theaters, and sports venues all within the proximity of the downtown city limits.
