Founded in 1890, the University of Oklahoma is a public university located in the heart of the country in Norman, Oklahoma. The university is located just about 20 minutes outside of Oklahoma City, and even offers some courses taught within Oklahoma City. The University of Oklahoma has over 30,000 students currently enrolled within the college, and employs more than 2,700 faculty members. The University of Oklahoma is a top-rated university and consistently teaches a great number of National Merit Scholars. The University of Oklahoma, is also a part of the Big 12, recognized for its top tiered division 1 sports teams. The Sooners is the mascot of the university. The University of Oklahoma prides itself for having some of the lowest tuition rates for a state school, with a $10,090 tuition fee for in-state residents. The university also works to provide plenty of scholarships for students, with a total of $250 million worth of funds going towards student grants and scholarships. The school works hard to keep students engaged and involved through over 400 registered student organizations, including social and academic clubs and Greek life opportunities, while also working to improve the quality of their education. The school also encourages students to give back to the community and offers many outlets for students to aid community effort on campus.
