Oklahoma State University is a public university that was created on Christmas Day in 1890. The university was founded as a part of the Morril Act and was originally called the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College. The school is located in the urban area of Stillwater, Oklahoma. The school has been voted to be one of the best educational values for a public university. It has also been labeled as one of the best overall public universities in the nation. Oklahoma State University was the first Truman Honor Institution and has since educated a high number of Truman Scholars. The school has top rated programs in hospitality, interior design, business, marketing, agriculture, and more. Oklahoma State also has respectable masters and doctorate programs within the university. The Oklahoma State Football team, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are a part of the NCAA division I and compete within the Big 12. Overall, the school has 50 different NCAA Championship titles across the board for their sports teams. The school has a total enrollment of about 21,000 students at the Stillwater campus, but has about 35,000 total within all of their locations and off campus courses. The school has been recognized for their original and exciting homecoming traditions, which dated back to the 1913 Harvest Carnival. Oklahoma State University is now considered to have “America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration.”
