The University of Wisconsin Madison, located in the state capital in the Southcentral part of Wisconsin, is a top-rated public university within the State. It is the biggest university within the 26 campus University of Wisconsin School System. The University was founded in 1848, after Wisconsin officially was named a state within the union. The university currently has over 43,000 student enrolled within their 13 different schools of study. There are over 130 undergraduate majors, 140 graduate programs, and 120 doctoral degrees offered through the University. The school is nationally ranked as the 4th top university for research expenditures. The University of Wisconsin Badgers athletic teams compete in the NCAA division I as a part of the Big Ten Conference. The current chancellor of the school is Rebecca M. Blank. The university has a total budget of over $2.9 billion and works to provide student with scholarships, grants, and funding for research opportunities to enhance their educational experience at the school.
